My friend Karen got married recently and I loved one of the poems that she included in her wedding. It was so unique and to me it felt like a very honest real poem, so I wanted to share it with you all on here. I liked this poem too because it made me think of my own sweetheart, if this poem is what a marriage is, then I think I am already married haha. Congrats to Karen and Ryan for getting everything they wanted!
I Want By Kim Konopka
I want
to shove my clothes
to one side of the closet,
give you the bigger half.
Quietly I'll hide most of my shoes,
so you won't know I have this many.
I will
rearrange furniture to add more,
find space on my shelves for your many books,
nail up the placard that says
poets do it, and redo it, and do it again.
I want
to share a laundry basket,
get our clothes mixed up,
wait for the yelling
when my reds run wild
into your whites
turning them a luscious pink,
your favorite color of me.
I will
move my pillow
to the other side of the bed,
lay yours next to mine,
your scent on the fabric
always near me,
even on the nights you're away.
I will
buy a new bureau to hold your
thousand and one black socks,
find a place for all those work boots,
the ones I refer to as big and ugly.
I want
more pots and pans to wash,
piles of them leaning high
from late night meals
cooked naked and drunk,
red wine pouring into
a sauce of simmering
tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil,
kisses bitten between bites,
and platefuls of our late hours,
stacking up into dawn.
I want
to stock cupboards, closets and pantry
fill the house with us.
I want to gain weight with you
because our love,
our love makes me fat.

Stories to Read
Here are some recent stories that I read, that you might enjoy as well! The first is an interview with Michael Pollan, the author of the Omnivore's Dilemma and other books about food culture.

Something to make you laugh
So, I am a big fan of Oprah, but I am also a big fan of the comedian Kathy Griffin. I saw Kathy Griffin's recent comedy special on Bravo and was laughing very hard when she starting doing her Oprah jokes, even though I still love Oprah it was really funny.
Here is the video of Kathy Griffin segment:
And here is the Oprah show when Oprah actually ate the deep fried butter, I remember watching this, so seeing Kathy's comedy show really made me laugh because I knew what she was talking about.

Red Bush Tea

I am a big fan of The No. 1 Ladies Detective series by Alexander McCall Smith. In the book, the main character is always drinking Red Bush Tea, or Rooibos tea. Reading about this tea throughout the series has made me very curious about what it tastes like. Well, I was in Vermont visiting my family this past weekend and my mom and I saw the tea and bought it so that we could try it.
I think that we were both very pleasantly surprised by how good the tea really was. We tried the Twinings brand and since then I bought the Numi brand to try. They were both very good. This is a caffeine free tea too, which is good because then you can drink it throughout the day. This tea does not need any milk, sugar or even honey in my opinion, its great the way it is. Red Bush Tea is also good for you because its full of antioxidants.
Anyway, if you are a tea fan, I would highly recommend that you try this tea!

National Anthem
Here is a video of my uncle singing the National Anthem at a Cubs vs. L.A. game last week.
He is the one all the way on the right!
So COOL. Just yet another reason why he continues to inspire me and make me feel so proud of what he has accomplished in his life. :)
Enjoy!!
